Heavy load transportation is the name given to the process of transporting loads that are technically large and heavy enough to be carried by normal trucks or lorries, either domestically or internationally. According to international and domestic road transport regulations, trailers have been specially produced for the transportation of loads that are outside the standards and cannot be carried by normal trucks. These are called lowbeds. Lowbeds are preferred because roads are damaged during the transportation of loads over a certain weight. Since these loads move very slowly while being transported, special transportation is needed; lowbeds provide ease of transportation and provide balance.
The weight of the loads carried in heavy load transportation is limited to 150 tons on the road. For loads that cannot be carried on the road, sea transportation is used. There are ships specially produced for heavy load transportation.
